Andy Swaim Named President of Ohio Chemistry Technology Council
The Ohio Chemistry Technology Council (OCTC) announced today that Andy Swaim has been appointed as President of the organization effective immediately, at the recommendation of OCTC’s Executive Committee and with the advice and guidance of its outside counsel, Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, LLP. Swaim succeeds Jenn Klein, who left the post earlier this month to take the helm at the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA). Swaim joined OCTC in 2020 as Director of Government & External Affairs and was promoted to Vice President in 2025. During his tenure, he has led the organization's advocacy and communications efforts and spearheaded critical technology, operational, and governance initiatives. "Andy has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing OCTC's mission and building strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders," said Chuck Almroth, OCTC Board Chair. "His deep understanding of the legislative process, Ohio's chemistry industry, and OCTC's operations makes him the ideal person to guide OCTC into its next chapter." As President, Swaim will oversee all operations of the statewide trade association, including government relations, regulatory advocacy, member services, and OCTC's signature events. He will also be responsible for developing and executing the organization's strategic plan. "My time working alongside Jenn and our member companies has been an incredible and enriching experience," said Swaim. " I am humbled to get the opportunity to lead an organization that represents one of Ohio's most important industries. Ohio is the third-largest chemistry producing state in the nation, and I look forward to working with our member companies, legislators, and regulators to ensure Ohio remains a great place to do business." Swaim has 12 years of experience on Capitol Square. Prior to joining OCTC, he served for five years as a staffer in the Ohio House of Representatives in a variety of political and policy roles, giving him extensive knowledge of the legislative process and Ohio's policymaking landscape.
